Dr. James Tuttle is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and has been in private practice for over 20 years. Doctor Tuttle is proud to provide state-of-the art care to residents of greater central Pennsylvania.

He is experienced in the diagnosis and medical treatment of eye disease, including glaucoma and dry eye.  He specializes in custom contact lens fittings for specialty lenses such as keratoconus, bifocal and medically necessary contacts. He also treats and manages contact lens-related problems. 

He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), Pennsylvania Optometric Association (POA), York County Chamber of Commerce, Eastgate Sunrise Lions Club and a member at York Alliance Church.

Dr. Leitzel was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. He completed his Bachelors degree in biology from Bloomsburg University in the spring of 2000.  In May 2004, he graduated with clinical honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. While in training Dr. Leitzel gained clinical experience from four externship programs located in Pennsylvania and Maryland including the William Feinbloom Rehabilitation Center for visually impaired in Philadelphia.   

Shortly after graduation Dr. Leitzel began practicing with Premier Eye Care Group in Harrisburg. In this large Ophthalmology practice he gained much experience in post-operative Cataract and refractive surgery care. He also managed a large number of patients with glaucoma and diabetic eye disease along with routine glasses and contact lens wear complications.

Dr. Leitzel was awarded Young Optometrist of the Year in May of 2009 by the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society. His outstanding leadership and service to his profession and the visual welfare of the public was recognized at their annual awards ceremony.

Since 2008, Dr. Leitzel served on the Board of Directors for Tri-county Association for the Blind. He was Chairman of the Board 2010-2012 and in the spring of 2012 launched the new Vision Rehab Center of TCAB. This center provides vision rehabilitation for people who are near blind or visually impaired. Tri-county Association for the Blind dedicated this Vision Rehab Center in Honor of Dr. Andrew Leitzel with a plaque inscribed “His service and dedication brought this vision to life”.

In  July of 2012, Dr. Leitzel Joined Drs. Blymire and Tuttle at Wheatlyn Eye Care in Manchester, PA. He is thrilled for the opportunity to continue his career in this community along side two other outstanding optometrists.

Dr. Leitzel provides services including comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings and evaluations, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma disease management, and emergency eye care.
